B-MEG secured the twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinal round with just one sizzling first quarter performance.

The Llamados banked on a 28-11 start in the first 12 minutes in booking a spot in the top two with an expected 86-74 win over Shopinas.com in the 2011 PBA Philippine Cup Thursday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

James Yap, Josh Urbiztondo and Marc Pingris were responsible in erecting that huge lead as B-MEG never looked back and stretched its winning run to a season-high eight games and finished the elimination round with a 10-4 slot.

MANILA, Philippines – The Powerade Tigers used a huge second half to ease the Shopinas.com Clickers out of contention, 102-84, in the PBA Philippines Cup on Friday.

According to PBA.ph, rookie Marcio Lassiter and Doug Kramer teamed up for 15 of the Tigers’ 34 points in the 3rd period to break away from the Clickers.

The victory snapped Powerade’s 4-game losing-streak and brought their playoff hopes to life.

AT the moment, what Shopinas.com wants is simply to enter the win column and avoid going 0-14 in its maiden conference as a member of the Philippine Basketball Association.

Just one win.

But hey, should the Clickers manage to achieve that goal in Friday night’s game against the Powerade Tigers, they would still have a very slim chance of squeaking into the quarterfinal round.

Alaska needed a couple of defensive stops to repulse the stubborn Shopinas five, 86-80, for its first back-to-back wins in the 2011 PBA Philippine Cup Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Sonny Thoss and Jay-R Reyes had key blocks in the final stretch as the Aces weathered the uprising of the Clickers, who absorbed their 11th straight loss in as many games.

Thoss had 15 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks in an all-around performance while Reyes also had a sterling game with 13 markers, 17 boards and 4 blocks as Alaska tied Powerade for 8th spot with 3-7 slate.

Alaska Milk may have found a new player that fits perfectly well to the power forward position -- Mac Baracael.

With Baracael playing the position to the hilt, the Aces totally outgunned the Powerade Tigers, 121-111, Friday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in one of the most high-scoring matches in the PBA Philippine Cup.

The energetic Baracael, who also played the No. 4 post with former team Smart Gilas Pilipinas, exploded with a career-best 22 points off the bench in an impressive six-of-10 shooting from the field and nine-of-11 from the free throw line that went with six rebounds, two assists and some solid defense.

Talk ‘N Text encountered little trouble in dispatching Shopinas.com, 96-83, to stay on top of the 2011 PBA Philippine Cup Wednesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

After Jason Castro and Japeth Aguilar put the game away early, the reserves did a good job of maintaining the lead as the Tropang Texters extended their winning streak to five games despite playing with a crippled lineup.

OF all the defeats Shopinas.com suffered in the PBA Philippine Cup, the one against Barangay Ginebra, without a doubt, is the toughest to forget.

Ahead by five with 55.2 seconds left in regulation, the Clickers crumbled, and the Kings went on to steal it in overtime, 94-90, last Oct. 26. It was a lesson Shopinas.com learned the hard way.

But Ginebra found out, too, that a winless ball club should never, ever be underestimated. Saturday night, Ginebra faces Shopinas.com once more, bringing along an abundance of respect against a struggling team in a Phoenix Fuel PBA on Tour game in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

Petron Blaze got a huge lift from an unexpected source when the Boosters blew Shopinas.com away with a record-setting production in the third quarter.

Rob Reyes, a 6-foot-6 back-up center who rarely makes an impact in a game, was in his best element in the third quarter Wednesday night, helping the Boosters dispatch the Clickers, 102-77, for their second straight win in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Reyes, who averaged just 1.8 points in the conference, finished the game with seven points and had a career-high four blocks he all collected in the telling quarter.

Except for a little breakdown late in the second period, Petron Blaze played perfectly on both ends of the court and smashed Shopinas.com, 102-77, for its second straight win in the 2011-12 PBA Philippine Cup Wednesday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

The Boosters used a mind-boggling 23-0 run in the third period to break away from what had been a tight game after the Clickers made their run toward the end of the first half and trail only by 3, 43-36, going into the break.

Joseph Yeo engineered the third quarter blast, while Arwind Santos highlighted the run with a one-hand throw-down as Petron handed Shopinas its 8th straight loss in as many games.

Talk ‘N Text hopes that the shooting incident involving Ali Peek won’t be a distraction when it collides with Powerade in the main game of the 2011-12 PBA Philippine Cup Wednesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

The Tropang Texters lost another big man in Peek, who was shot in the neck by an unidentified gunman Monday night after the player’s plyometric training session at the RFM Gymnasium in Mandaluyong City.

Talk ‘N Text coach Chot Reyes said the 36-year old Peek is now out of danger but the bullet is still lodged on his neck and doctors at the Medical City are awaiting the decision of the relatives regarding the surgery.
